What is Maskne? Put simply, it is breakout's or irritation caused by the wearing of a mask.
Why does this happen? There are many factors that contribute to Maskne, below are some of the common reasons this occurs;
- continual friction
- changes to humidity
- persistent sweat
- occlusion and pressure
- irritation and allergy
Our skin is the largest organ in our body and it's ability to breath, rid itself of toxins and be free from pressure, occlusion and irritation is vital to it's function.
Many of us cannot choose the period of time we wear a mask, nor can we choose the style or material it is made from.
We can however, give our skin extra care and a re-set when we are mask free!
The simplest and we have found most beneficial re-set is to use our Micellar Water followed by our C Serum.
This can be done on breaks at work, in the car or wherever you are safely able to remove your mask.
If you are doffing at night use the Micellar Water, then our A Serum followed by the C Serum
Day to day, choose cleansing and moisturising over makeup. It may be tempting to conceal and cover breakouts and redness, however, this may make the situation worse!
If you are makeup addicted - focus on your eyes instead of your cheeks and nose.
Give yourself a facial with our Spa Facial Duo or go and have a facial with a skilled skincare professional. Be wary of mechanical exfoliation (including our Spa Facial Scrub and microdermabrasion) on broken or irritated skin.
If you can choose the type of mask you wear, opt for a soft natural cotton material for the inner layer.
We know we all need to stay safe. We also know that we need to look after the largest organ in our body in the best way possible.
We will get through this and we are here to help and support in any way we can.
If you have any hints, tips or tricks that you use for dealing with Maskne, we would love you to share them!
